Why is English hard at school?

The biggest reason why learning English is difficult at school is because students aren't taught how to read.

Do you remember your first week of English lessons? Maybe you remember learning the alphabet, self-introduction and not much else!Too much happens to quickly for the students and most are left behind.

Because nobody is taught how to decode English everyone has to remember words by looking at them.

Why emphasize reading more than conversation?

Reading is the best foundation for success. It is the springboard that launches students to speaking fluency.

As adults, the ability to read English well is a lot more valuable. Access to the most up to date information is often found through English.

There is more opportunities for self-discovery, autonomous learning and practice if the focus is on reading. If the focus is mainly on conversation, apart from a one hour lesson a week, few children have the opportunity to really practice.

What are the benefits of learning to read?

Learning to read creates many opportunities. Students can communicate by email or letters with other children all over the world.

By being able to read English well, today's children will grow up to be independent. The world opens up to them.

Learning to read through English will also give children confidence in their own abilities and confident that they can follow their own paths successfully.
